Training Crate A Pitbull has the same base as training other dogs, but there are some things you need to remember. This is largely related to the chest itself than the methodology. So let’s start.
1. GET A REALLY GOOD CRATE
Crates come in various types and brands. You must focus on super sturdy. Holes are aggressive desires, and their strong teeth can tear the thin crates in an instant. So you can’t go for a soft-soft chest. Buy a sturdy chest for Pitbulls.
Also, keep your dog size and how big he can get when he fully grows. Crates are not too expensive, but they are also not cheap. So it might be wise to buy one full size and just add a divider to make it smaller.
2. GIVE HIM TOYS TO PREVENT BOREDOM
Remember that your pitbull crate is in each room. Make sure it’s as comfortable as possible so that your dog enjoys the time there. You can put some of his favourite toys in it to keep your pet bored. Remember to buy large toys that cannot be swallowed by your dog, this is important for playing time without supervision in the chest.
3. MAKE IT COMFY AND COZY
You have to put a kind of bed in a crate so your pitbull is more comfortable. The crate mat is also a good choice, but only a few evidence chews, so don’t buy expensive. Soft blankets or old towels can also work well. If your pitbull chews it, then let go before he swallows the pieces.
4. KEEP HIM HYDRATED WHILE IN THE CRATE
At the beginning of the chest training, you will not leave your puppy pit too long. At first, just about making him get used to the chest. However, when he began spending more than 2 hours in the chest, it was good to complete it with a water bottle, if he got thirsty.
HOW TO CRATE TRAIN A PITBULL PUPPY
Now we get to the actual steps that can help you in the training of your Pit Bull puppies.
STEP 1: First, set up the box
STEP 2: Make it comfortable
STEP 3: Put treats in the box to attract your pet to go while using the “Crake up” command. Do not close the door.
STEP 4: Repeat → Reward → Praise. You may need to do that several times to create a happy association with the box.
STEP 5: Start slowly to close the door, little by little.
STEP 6: Close the door completely, but in a minute, open it. Repeat this operation with longer intervals. Reward and rent each time.
STEP 7: Give the “CRATE UP” command, but do not like your dog. Reward it when he obeys.
Most dogs respond well to the crate when they are trained to see it as a good thing and not as a cage.
Never use punishment with cash training.
You should not punish your dog anyway, but your Pitbull combining the crate with a “bad dog” is something you certainly do not want.
